Solar portfolio
Three locations
Total estimated installed capacity - 27 MW
Total estimated annual generation - 41 GWh
The EPBiH solar portfolio encompasses the development, construction, and commissioning of multiple photovoltaic power plants to be located on decommissioned and reclaimed coal mine sites. This approach creates new employment opportunities and supports the diversification of local economies in communities that have relied on the mining industry for decades.
The concept of identifying and utilizing existing mine surfaces for the construction of solar power plants is fully aligned with the principles of a just energy transition. It ensures the sustainable use of land while simultaneously supporting the economic and environmental development of the regions.
All planned photovoltaic power plants will be connected to the distribution network, and the electricity produced will be consumed in close proximity to the point of generation. In this way, transmission losses are reduced, local system stability is improved, and energy security is strengthened.
