Elektroprivreda BiH plans to invest 2.1 billion in new production facilities

The 2025-2027 Business Plan, which was adopted at the 85th Extraordinary Assembly on 27 December 2024, foresees rational and efficient business activities with the realization of profits for Elektroprivreda BiH’s all three planning years.

The plan is to produce a total of 17,773 GWh of electricity in the three-year period, of which the average share of hydropower plants is 23.3%. The rest of the production pertains to thermal power plants, wind power plants and solar power plants.

Elektroprivreda BiH plans to invest 2.1 billion BAM in new production facilities in the three-year period, for the construction of which it is planned to use funds from international financial institutions and part of its own funds. In accordance with the long-term strategic goal of building new production plants from renewable sources of electricity, the plan is to start production during the planning period in several new solar power plants.

In order to ensure stable and sustainable coal production in the volume required for the planned operation of thermal power plants, the 2025-2027 Business Plan foresees the recapitalization of coal mine subsidiaries through investments in the amount of approximately 74.1 million BAM.

During the planning period, the membership of Elektroprivreda BiH to the SEEPEX and CROPEX stock exchanges, where trading is carried out on the organized market, along with the continuation of bilateral trade, should be of great importance.

In 2025, the production of 6,261 GWh of electricity is planned, with a consumption of 5.05 million tons of coal, while the planned total income amounts to one billion and 487.33 million BAM.

Based on the Law on Electricity of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organizational and statutory changes should be finalized in Elektroprivreda BiH in 2025, which entails the establishment of the Distribution System Operator (DSO) as a separate legal entity that will be created by separating the distribution activity. As a new company, DSO would become one of the subsidiaries 100% owned by Elektroprivreda BiH, with a significant degree of independence.

The Assembly of Elektroprivreda BiH adopted the Decision on Amendments to Decisions on Recapitalization by Investing in Subsidiary Companies-Coal Mines, which included the subsidiary coal mines "Kreka", "Đurđevik", "Kakanj" and "Breza".
